EURENA
It is planned to extend the use of energy labelling, currently used on domestic appliances, to other types of equipment and even to give whole cities energy labels and grades. The "Communal Labels" project set out the main outlines of the future energy labelling of European towns.
EVE was selected by the European Union to carry out the adaptations and subsequent implementation of applicable measures in towns in the Basque Country. The project, financed by the European Union, is called EURENA: "Quality and Certification Systems for Energy-efficient Communities". This project was completed as part of the European Union's SAVE Programme. Projects financed by the SAVE programme centre on actions, sector-specific studies, awareness campaigns, etc., geared towards encouraging efficient use of energy.
The first part of the project consisted of studying the applicability of the guidelines set out in the "Communal Labels" project, and adapting them to the specific characteristics of the Basque Country and Southern Europe. In collaboration with the municipal authorities a municipality will be selected in which we will study all the relevant variables and verify the practical applicability of the project. The project will conclude with an analysis of a series of Basque municipalities in order to acknowledge their efforts in the area of energy saving and encourage the use of renewable energy sources by assigning a "European Label" which they can sport as long as they are still involved in this effort.
