EnLight
More than 10% of the energy consumed in Europe is used in lighting. This represents a vast level of energy consumption resulting in harmful emissions of CO2. It also represents a huge potential for energy saving which must be tapped. "EnLight: Efficiency in Lighting Urban Areas" seeks to determine the state of urban lighting throughout Europe; for this purpose, a detailed study is being made of the quality of European urban lighting.
The study will be used to establish the assessment criteria needed for a comparative study of the different arrangements used throughout Europe. Once the possible alternatives have been assessed, the specifications that need to be met by urban lighting (light pollution, energy efficiency, application of renewable energy sources, etc.) will be established.
