ASTECH - Advanced Sustainable energy Technologies for Cooling and Heating applications
The aim of this project is to help suppliers of heating and cooling systems with introduction of renewable systems and technologies. There is vast potential for developing renewable energy sources for heating and cooling over coming years. These applications operate not only at industrial level but also at domestic level. However this development requires systems adapted to allow incorporation of other renewable energy sources, unlike the present situation, where all systems are fuelled by fossil fuels and electricity.
The aim is to combine conventional systems and incorporate effective and commercially competitive products into them.
In the case of the Basque Country the project centres on developing and promoting geothermal energy and more specifically geo-exchange as an energy source for climate control (heating and cooling) of public buildings and private homes. This dissemination will call on EVE's experience in developing an innovative geothermal exchange plant in Durango at the facilities of the Azterlan technology centre.
The results of the project include:
- Creation of groups of excellence
- Gathering of R&D+I results
- Development of tools for assessing and analysing new technologies
- Training and best practices programme
The 14 participants in the project include technology centres, energy agencies and professional industry associations
